Talking to you this morning has put a smile on my face all day.
The AM cylinder will be a great way for you to be able to run your 064 again.
It makes better power than a oem and has a decomp hole, I look forward to getting it fixed up for you.
Thanks for the flywheel and the smile

No, thank you. I am amazed the AM cylinder performed the way it did........ Nice....... Just remember, all of us older guys need help with these high compression top end without a decomp valve to start it. I can't wait to try it. Like the Polar Express show during Christmas time. You got to believe............... Thanks for giving me new life.

Glad you come over and visit. How's the smurf family treating you?

Mike, I have the Smurfs and Dolmar lined up on the shelfs. They are great running saws and good thing they have decompression valve. As I got older, I lost a lot of arm strength and by using the decompression valve it comes to life and puts a smile on my face as Jason mention the same. We got to enjoy these toys of ours, Smurfs included.......lol....

Mahle averaged the fastest. KS was harder to time consistent sitting on the log. AM made the fastest cut by .1 over the mahle but the 2nd cut was slower to bring it into 2nd. Less than .1 average. All were very close like that.
Mahle 8.25
KS 8.95
AM 8.36
The throttle response and feel of the am make it seem much faster.
I guessed it in that order but didn't think it was that close.
The ks has a lazy feel to it and the mahle runs just like it should.

Just looking at the video timer, that's about what I came up with too.

Jason, what timing #'s are you looking for ideally before porting?

I'd guess the exhaust height in the am jug combined with a short (ish) bar is why it's quick.

I'd be curious to know what the outcome might be among those 3 jugs with your 50" Cannon bar on there. Might be a different story

I've noticed that exhaust height seems to mean very little. If the am cylinder is stronger with a 24" most likely it will be with any bar.

The best runner with a long bar I've ran had the exhaust at 98.

The lower exhaust on the oem cylinders are hurting them. Low exhaust and a high intake doesn't mean it will run a longer bar better.

On a 066 I think 98 120-123 80 is ideal for how I do them.

064 i like 100 120-123 78-80

I would have bet on the KS, till I saw your comments about it, and that AM was impressive.

My timing was less precise than Mike's but the same result. I got 8 sec for both the Mahle and AM, and 9 for the KS, which looked painfully slower (I guess I was rooting for it anyway) in the wood.

I like the 064 because you can get the intake sub 160 duration 80 opening and still machine the squish to get the compression and exhaust timing you want.

I like low intake duration for high crankcase compression with really large transfers.

To bad the 066/660 cylinders couldn't be like a 064 cylinder.

It is nice to cut 030 from the base and still not have enough intake, completely different than the 54mm cylinders.
