Maybe the flywheel has weak magnets?
Idk. It sure did smash the crap out the tip of my finger when it pulled one of those coils to it today. Something just seems off. I’m thinking of getting a couple new plug wires and seeing what happens. Maybe the wires have broken inside and don’t fire right when pushed into place

It could be the impulse hose, or even the carb boot

If your talkin about the other two wires that come off the coil, they only earth out the coil il to stop it sparking, if you wanna check them just take off the wire from the coil that has a spade conector and isolate it, ps maybe worth cleaning any oily saw dust from around the spade conector. But you may have done this already

Edit, if you start it without the wires conected to the coil,, you will have to use the choke to stall the engine or use the decomp valve.

Take a good look at the plug wire. They wear thru and short out at the upper AV mount on that model.

I had mine apart just the other day and noticed this as a weak spot, do you have any suggestions on how to fix/stop it wearing

Cheers

I replace any worn wires and add heat shrink tubing. Then look for a better way to route it. The newer MS260s were routed differently than the 026, but I can't recall exactly how.

No sir I’m talking about the main plug wire itself
