This is without the 242 "windows" ? Does the windows gain a little power in a 42 or will it just mess things up?I have an old 42 piston on the shelf , no special

I have a Husqvarna 42, the piston was without windows and I installed a piston with windows. Unfortunately, I don't have a comparison because the saw didn't work before. That's my thought sir. 42 and 246 cylinders seems identical except bore size, so why does the 246 have the windowed piston and 42 not?Typically open port cylinders are bottom fed and don't need a windowed piston but the 42 is side fed open port so it would seem that it would benefit from the windows.
How much does it cost because I have one with a broken h-ca leverParts I just picked up a couple of nos 133/234 chainbrakes , be the baby brother to a 42

SELLING - 242xp, 42, and 42sp saws/parts saws
We'll start with the 42. This was a good runner that had a small gas leak at the tank-threads. It was on the ground and had leaked some and an ember ignited the tank, which was almost empty. Burned up all where the leak ran down and then some. The internals should be good. I'll take photos later...opeforum.com
Price reduced for today onlyThanks, chipper!
I'm hoping to have more photos up in a few hours, but we'll see how it goes.
41.8 mm, and it is openAFAIK the 42SP should be an open port cylinder, just as the 42 is. The Meteor 42 piston should work fine unless your 42SP has a closed port cylinder. If your cylinder is closed port like the 242/242XP, there are a couple different pistons on ebay, including one from LilRedBarn. Post a pic of the cylinder bore and measure to ensure it is 42mm.
