One drawing to those who plan to make a couple sockets. Those two sockets cover pretty much all different cranks and bearings. Both sockets will put preasure on inner race only.

18.5 mm is because Husky use M18x1,5 threads for the nut, if you use 16mm bolts you will go for 16,5mm hole.

I made another socket the other day for the 390/385. Same basic dimensions as the 372 socket but the OD on the small end is a shade over 28 mm vs. 27mm. I think it will work a little better for installing the seals.

isnt those flywheel seals around 28mm in diameter?

Yes they are. The socket that I made for the 372 is 27mm od and I wasn't comfortable pressing the 390 seals in with it.
got it, if I where to use the socket to knock in seals, 27mm is to little, but over 27mm gives to little distance to the crankarea where the seals are mounted.

Since you are into 385/390 nowadays, what dimension has the PTO crank? 17mm?

Yes 17mm is correct.

I think there is about 23-26 crank mounting tools, not included whatever came out the last 5 years.
What kits do you already own?

Thanks.....your research was pivotal here. So thank you!

Unfortunately ...as is...it won't cover the flywheel side for smaller stihls...because the seal pocket is too small. I'll work on it :)

We are all here to share, end of the day some people improve our ideas. Well done work Matt.

Do you know the diameter of the seal and the crank axel diameter?

@Mattyo I think you'll need another sleeve or a step down adapter for doing older Stihl saws with the tiny flywheel side seal, like the 044, 046, 064, and 066. I think their OD is smaller than the 3/4 all thread you are using, so the sleeve will need a step down and will have to be installed before threading the pull shaft onto the crank.

yep... i'm on it. I'm doing a run of these...20 tools / sets, and when they are gone i'll work on the next iteration I think I can keep the threaded rods the same, but use stepdown sleeve like ya say...but there is a tiny trick to it that i'm working on in my brain

the older 066 style is indeed smaller, but the new 660 barely makes it... and this was the limitation the current tool is designed to.
