Have you ever had issues with this style of control lever?I like the 1128 style myself. Not a big fan of 1122 or 1125 master control levers.
I've only had 4 in the shop with the older style L shaped lever. 2 were brand new and worked. The 2 that were used acted just like yours. Guessing they didn' work correctly for very longAll of em that I've ran, 066/064 are that way
I have had issues with the control lever only on the Stihl 066, MS650, and MS660, several of them, in fact. My 064 has no problems holding a fast idle whatsoever.Have you ever had issues with this style of control lever?
I just heard back and he wants it repaired/rebuild.
Before I order a set of gaskets can some one tell me if this a 064 or 066? The serial number is 122059068
I measure the bore through the exhaust and it measures 54mm so I'm assuming it's a 066?
Thanks again.
Thank you. I also just found this thread. It looks like it is a late 064 1988 crankcase.
Good to know, thanks. If you use 066 660 muffler you wont most likely need the spacer. I have 2 064s and an early 066 neither needed spacer with the later 660 muffler Easiest way to tell if its 064 04 066 is the flywheel and oiler. The 064 flywheel is about an in. wide and has external oil line same as 036 oil line kit actually and suck to install And 066 has a flywheel about 2 in thick and oiler screws to case with no external oil line. Also 064 066 gasket set is same part number comes with 3 crank seals depending if saw has small diameter crank or large diameter . 660 seal kit is diff seal kit part number all together. All 064. 52 mn cylinders were thin base as well. Were as 066 660 were thick base in most cases and were mahle although some 066 specialy early red lights did have a thin base cylinder 54 mm. 064 and 066 share the same fuel tank as well. 660 fuel tank is diff due to 660 being a bigger crankcase.
If its late model case should also have w screw holes real close together by pin boss on flywheel side if so and it dont allready have you can put standard unlimited coil same as 026 036 044 1300 and a 1203 1204 or a 1204 unlimited coil and get away from them old dog leg limited coils that were known for failure that are nla a 1201 flywheel will work too.Thank you. Good to know, thanks.
Does any one know if the early to late control levers interchange?
I'm going to replace this one and not sure they still make the early style.
I think they interchange im not 100 percent on thatThank you. I also just found this thread. It looks like it is a late 064 1988 crankcase.

Yeah, according to my findings it's a Late 064 case, built in 1988.Looks 064 pull clutch cover and clutch send pic
I pulled the cylinder late last night and it is indeed a 064, 52mm. My fault thinking it was a 066 for a bit. I screwed up the pop sickle stick trick. It's not a bolt-up affair. The 064 case (in the U.S.) was never converted to accept the 066 top end from the factory. Apparently there were 064s sold in Canada that were said to have had the same cylinder spacing as 066s but the one guy that posted that never posted any pictures or other documentation, so I'm doubtful.
The gasket set you need is 1122 007 1051. It's the only gasket set that fits the 064 and metal flywheel 066 cases. Just the single crankcase gasket is 1122 029 0500.
Good to know. I pulled the cylinder and don't like how the plating looks, I'll post a picture in a bit. This saw needs junked!!Cross Performance has a 066 top end with the 064 bolt pattern.
