Mine has a different disposition on different days.

Maybe you personalized the build for me.
I had to retard the flywheel 015 to get it where it won't get you everytime.
It's just once in awhile now.

It's the same timing as your saw and when you get the exhaust down that far it gets cantankerous.

The other saw has 040 advance and the same flywheel and coil and the same compression.

015 retarded it will still hit when trying to get the piston up to Tdc.
It's the craziest thing I've seen

Pulled down the MS880 I am about to port and found a nasty restrictive intake.

100/122/66 and about .040 squish

Question: What is the purpose of the little hole in the bottom of the intake?
I plan to get it to about 102/122/78 so good chance I'm going to get down into the hole.
I plan to open the intake right out properly anyway so if there is any of the hole remaining I will just fill it.

The transfer tunnels are really narrow as well, like half the size of an 064 cylinder

Probably to prevent fuel pooling

There's nothing restrictive about that intake unless you're putting something like a Tillotson HD on it.

I'm just gonna play imagination land on the little hole and say it's a vent to keep spitback fuel from puddling. I've never heard mention of it in all my days of not working on 880's. lol
