View attachment 67973Mdavlee ported 385. Rwj4 swap. Left divider in, gonna see how it responds. If it don't like it the tilly is going back on. Throttle response seems better. Bolts right on, very easy. Only had to shorten the tilly carb bolt inserts to fit in the wally, nothing a sharp razor couldn't fix. We'll see how it does cutting soon.

Keep your screwdriver handy. They can be finicky

No mate I don't.
I kept the lowers fairly tight but deepened them and took the bottle neck out at the bridge
bugger all to the uppers, they were fairly good already and just needed raising a deg or 2.
Never touched the band or base, its got plenty of compression with a gasket delete and sat at .023 squish

Is the intake boot that big?

Almost.

You might want to put a bigger jet in it, or ream out the one that's in it. I'm assuming it has a removable jet.

I'm thinking its going to need it.
Will wait till I get it all finished with the 361 coil and see what it does.
Will mod the carb to suit final setup.

One of them is a methanol fueled racer that is begging to be brought back to life.









Now to build them up

Lucky you. I got another 84 this week as well. Was set up with a pipe but the cylinder base has cracked.

I just opened it up and its pristine inside and VERY well done.
Transfer bridges are gone, super neat fingers, only running the top ring, cylinder intake welded up and machines for direct carb bolt on so no boot.
I will learn a lot from this saw.
Its been built on a new saw and its all still like new under the dirt.
Going to strup it back to the crank and fully rebuild it with new everything, make it run again.

Considering once I rebuild, port and sell the running saw I will make money on the total purchase, the rest of it all is free
