My only concern with the 780w version is what drive cables are compatible with it as you'll break one eventually. I know the cables for the S-R cables are available in many places.

I directly asked about cables, and if a easily available standard off the shelf item, and if they had them as well. Question was asked this morning.

They are saying that SR pieces work with this product.

So it probably takes the same cable then?

I have one of the 1000w, 30k rpm motors and I will say that it's too fast for grinding aluminum, it causes burrs to load up significantly faster. The 18k of an SR motor seems to be in the sweet spot.

My alumihog burrs never load up, except on newer Husqvarna jugs. Weird huh?
After all you've said about them, it's no wonder. Lol
Seriously though, I've been dipping my bits in tap magic for faster cleaner cuts without sticking to the burr bits no matter if regular, double or hog cut. ;)

They smear even with nice carbide when machining the bases too. I found that a good spray of WD-40 will get you a much better surface finish.

I wonder if dipping my burr in WD-40 would be a good idea?

I dip in wd-40 or a light oil when they are clogging up. Or you can spray some into the port... it all flies off the burr immediately anyway.

transmission fluid might work well too. For now, I have some tap magic in a jar and dip the burr lift it out and give it a spin to rid the excess off in the jar and go to work. Just the right amount sticks and stays to the burr, so it's kinda goof proof. Gamechanger for sure.

On cutting aluminum? One shop that I worked in, we used kerosene in a squirt bottle for milling it. Didn't leave a big mess that some lubes did.

Renting out pigs?
