Osage Orange & Mulberry are in the same family of tree. Osage is great firewood & fence posts. Top 2 chunks are Mulberry ( left is fresh cut, right dead about 2 years) bottom 4 are old Hedge posts from about 10-25 years old.

Snaps & pops, probably not good for fireplaces but most folks seem to like it. It’s all my cousin burns in his OWB. They are plentiful & grow fast. Cuts nice & splits well. At least that’s been my experience.

need to be good and dry to burn without poppin and sparkin. my butcher buddy likes it for smoking meat.

This kinda puts it in perspective as to the size of the piles when you are looking down on the tractor. Low clouds that night and people could see the glow from about 10 miles out.

Our air temp is about zero right now, I just threw a chunk of hedge in the furnace. My dad said he melted a grate in half putting too much in. It is hard when dry. The noodles are only half an inch long.

Some call it “poor man’s coal”.

Never seen it melt anything stouter than aluminum though.

You have to have a good airtight stove it will get hot real hot.
