I've never tried to replace the bearings in one of these. I always send them to CC to get them rebuilt. I've got several that could use new bearings again. Who can teach this old dog a new trick so I can fix these fughing things myself?

@srcarr52 has a thread here. Modify a 1/4” deep well socket is the only tool you’ll need. I did mine-super easy and 10 bearings were like $23.

Remove head

Unscrew nut-shaft slides out

Screw collet out

Unscrew back cap on head (washers/shims stay in cap)

Use pick to slide the insides of the head and two bearings out

Replace 2 bearings

Repeat in reverse. I greased everything when going back together.

Bearings are MR106-2RS, get ABEC3 rated.

All this is credited to Huskihl and Shaun-I didn’t find any of this out first; just wanted it in multiple threads for easy finding.

Just to add to the thread, @PA Dan gave me a couple rubber sealed bearings to try rather than the metal shielded ones, and I believe they lasted longer by maybe 50%. So that’s what I bought last time I needed some. Bearings are 10X6X3mm

A little late but here’s the thread.

I think there’s a link in there that takes you right to buying the bearings.
