Or maybe they will hold their value or even go up in value. That's what happened to the larger Honda snowblowers when the re designed HSS models came out a couple years ago.
true thats why I'll be shopping in that 2 week window before buyers remorse can happen.

I'm gonna give you a citation for a class 1 chainsaw misdemeanor.

:cop1:

Just remember he's guilty, until proven innocent.

So with what is currently known about the up coming Stihl 462. Would you wait for it to come out, (who knows when) or buy the proven 461 tomorrow?
That is the question that haunts me. I'm not a mtronic fan and don't want to miss out on the tried and true 461.
What does everyone think?

Buy a 461 now, while you can, heck you shouldv'e bought one already, last summer when they were $100 off at most dealers since the 441 was NLA for a period of time. They since went back up. I'd still run out and buy 1 or 2, while they are available.

I'm still hoping that when the 462 comes out used 461s hit the market cheap

Don't hold your breath to long....

That said, I don't know when the 462s will hit the US market, so if I needed a saw, the 461 is a good one. But I would open up the muffler and remove the carb limiters, at a minimum.

I think stock 461s have a bit of a heat problem.

I bought a new 461 last summer, I put a 460 coil on it, muffler mod, and trimmed the limiters, before I ever cut any wood.

I don't know what difference it made, since I didn't run it stock, but spend too much time on here, you do things, that you feel are needed to be did....

I've seen a couple of weird piston burns on 461s from the local tree guys. When you factor in that the vast majority of their saws are still 460s, you start to question things.

The only reason for that internal "bridge" in the 461 is to cool the piston. That has to tell you something.

Get rid of the heat problem, and I think they are great saws.

I put a tsumura bar on it also, with the clear coat stripped off, that helped cool it down....

Do they call you the limiter trimmer ?
Muffler mods don't make a huge difference on 461s..I tried it...but I suppose it's a good thing to let the heat out..idk.

I don't think they call me much of anything anymore, least nothing I can repeat on here.

Come on now. Gotta get with the times. Lol
Run what the cool guys run. Get filing. Lol

I use my 026 for most of my cutting. Trees just aren't that big anymore. [emoji106]

I'm gonna buy a 462 the day I can order one and put 3 stickers on it and get the red armor mixed with some square chisel..then I'll be off to the rodeo.

I'm a sucker to try new things.

I agree on the 026.
