Do you nail them off as you go or run all the rafters and collar ties first then come back string your wall, gauge and nail? Or lag as the case is.

I have been using these black bolts that have spline drive tips ,screw right in and no hole to drill like a lag ,1/4 cordless impact gun seems too drive them through a 6x6 pretty easy ,impossible to cut through with a sawzall ,kills the blade real fast

They have come a long way in fasteners.
I was having a problem with reg galvanized lags twisting and breaking in the doug fir without drilling a pilot hole using the electric impact ,these and a company called ledger lock are super tough ,kind of spendy though compared to reg lags .Work great for deck framing .And timber type work .

Some we use are just like that. These are 5/16 hex head

But they don't go in with a cordless. Need a low rpm corded drill. Sometimes the drill rips right out of my hands... Lol!

Cordless won't get past 6-7".
I use this

Even a regular 1/2" drill won't put them down. I burned up a couple Milwaukee drills. In the heart wood I had to grab my right angle drill to finish them. But that low rpm dewalt is a strong drill!

I've used an 18 volt Makita impact to drive stuff that a drill would never drive. Those things amaze me.

I haven't tried a 1/2" cordless impact. It would probably drive them but it would be loud and I was worried they might snap. Maybe work real well though...
