I'm curious how you gonna connect upper handle to side of cylinder?

There is no stroke difference however I think my case is too tight to feed 72cc. I haven't worked on mine in a while as I was a Lil burned out when I finished it so rather than half ass it, I shelved it til I have the love for it again. It did run, I have an air leak, however my 350 is my go to firewood saw. Really looks like a pup with an intenz bar on it.

I think I'm going to drop a rod down the mounting bolt access hole that fits tight and 2.5" long so it uses all the fins for reinforcement. There will be a hole tapped and threaded to attach a small block like the aluminum one you're using. It will be solid with no vibrating to cause wear and I'll be able to mount a shortened spring off the corner . I'll put a small notch off the corner of a couple fins to let the block sit straight.
The shorter spring will hopefully ad enough strength and stiffness to help keep the rest of the av system from warping out.

I have all the parts on my bench right now. A pile of carbs and intakes playing the mix and match game. So far it is looking like I get to try two options without too much modification...one is leaving the original 357/359 carb and intake and making the carb better, or going with a wj69 carb.
The one way it'll be a sleeper saw, the other will be obvious something is up.

I would consider the Tillotson hs from either same saw, or as long as it has the low idle adjustment. You have plenty of options and I think either could work. Certainly gonna take some work, and as I'm typing this I believe this cylinder swap has been done before, I just can't remember when but believe it was from the Nova Scotia area.
Go with a 254A I have one on my ported 272 and its plenty... And has idle adj built in.

Well I have officially cut ground on this thing. First step is to notch the rim below transfers for a proper match to the case.

Then the tedious chore of grinding the outer diameter of the rim until it fits snug in the case. I'm not removing the entire thing because there is little clearance for the piston skirt and when the alignment is perfect the piston doesn't touch at bdc. if the bolts ever come loose it'll prevent it from grenading. I sure wish I had a lathe.

One little spot on a fin needs relieved to clear the case. I haven't checked clearance with the top cover yet but I imagine I'm going to have to reshape the entire top fin or two.

All the holes have been offset far enough to make it. The two that migrated outwards will need thick washers to maintain the strength at the base.

The squish was way too tight and I had to mill out 1/16" from the squish band to get it to .020 with the factory gasket.

Now I need to reshape the outer diameter of the intake to fit a boot and then on to put the finishing touches on the muffler.
