I'd like to have a thread on the differences of materials in wheels and makeup and how they perform. Like the comparison of pink wheels. That Total wheel does not impress me, but my Oregon wheels work good. I am still partial to my grey STIHL wheels.
Maybe even compare CBN style wheels and how they perform compared to cost and maintenance.
I am certain I had the conversation with someone that the STIHL wheels made for carbide are not worth the cost for sharpening standard chain.
Get on it. Start a new thread today.

That looks just like Dan's setup. Nice but, not needed here much. It would sit or I would start doing square chain for people.

Anyone ever try Granbergs Kool grind or a similar product on there wheels? Worth it or does it just make a mess and slow down the process.

I tried it. Did not notice any improvement. Maybe with dirty chains to keep from fouling the wheels?

I clean chains before sharpening and dress the wheels frequently.

If you want to try it, just use the end of a candle, or a lumber crayon. I would be interested in your feedback.

Tried the lumber crayon. Makes a mess and I dont see any differences in temp of the tooth. 1st pic is after application and 2nd is 3 chains later.20180901_122209.jpg

I am really enjoying that new Stihl dressing brick. Quick touch and cleanup and back at it. Where would one find a diamond dressing stone?

Well I suppose knowing a machinist who digs old discarded ones out of the trash is a good option for most.:dancer2::dancer2::dancer2::dancer2:

The ones I have are single point but a couple have a cluster of diamonds that are about 1/8" in diameter. Those work great.

This would probably work. On a chainsaw wheel, would probably last forever.
