A few months back I volunteered to cut up some noble fir logs for a neighbour using his saw.
Noble fir is very soft and I have cut it easily with a dull but not damaged chain when I needed to.
The chain on his saw simply rubbed up against the wood and did not bite at all.
The chain on his ms 391 was DESTROYED. He had only sharpened it once, with an ANGLE GRINDER. (flashbacks to the Ironhorse threads). He even tried to sharpen the cutters like a knife or axe blade, starting on top of the cutter behind the leading edge and working his way toward the edge. It looked exactly like his chain had gone straight into stainless steel or glass or something. Technically it had lol.

Long story short I spent 45 minutes fixing his chain with a previously un-used 13/64 round file (I prefer 7/32) and 10 minutes cutting the logs.
He said he didnt know his saw could cut that fast.

He thought it was normal.
Needless to say the bar looked like it was some old logger's heirloom from the "good 'ole days".
He had only had the saw and the bar for a year or two and used maybe 10 tanks.
