Back when I was doing my first ever port jobs I copied Brad's gigantically widened uppers. Did two saws like that. One is a snarly fast 361 that still runs perfect. The other one was the widest. It was a 461BB kit. It snagged a ring on first startup........so yeah. I don't think the sting of defeat will ever fully go away enough that I would forget to check ring end location again LOL.

I could never figure out why some cut out the bottom out of tunnels either .I'd think you'd first want to build up a little crankcase pressure and also keep it through the piston window to cool it .For all I know the examples might have been 5 second wonders too, cookie cutters .Made for the quick run,not the long haul .

I think all the bottom would ever need is to be matched to the case. I don't see any point in hogging out a divider at the bottom. Maybe rounding it. But hey, what do I know. I'm just a hack. I need a professional to tell it like it is.

If you could get an extra 1,000 rpm out of it. It might really blow
Ive never fooled with porting one but I had an almost new one given to me that dropped a bottom crank bearing . When I took it apart the cylinder maybe had a few hrs on it so I ordered parts and that thing has been sitting on the bench lookin at me and Im lookin at that cylinder thinkin hmmmmm!:cunaooooo:
