Ok. Did it come with some decent burrs? Dremel carbide burrs cost a left nut and a finger

I just got some of these and I like 'em.

Not a lot of time with 'em yet so don't know about longevity but they look well made...
Particularly partial toward the 'round nose tapered tree' shaped one, wish I could get a pack of just those.

Think I'll order another set just in case they go away soon, I've had a hard time finding the really open 'aluma-hog' style like this in the chicom/cheap ones.

039 hung a ring

When I looked at the flow pattern on top of the piston in my 390 jug, I thought that reducing the width of the bridge between the ports would improve the flow and allow more time/area on the transfers.

I'm wondering if anyone has thinned the bridge on an 039/390.

Runs strong. I don't like the way it idles. Maybe a carb kit. Throttle response is amazing good power. I'll get a vid of it compared to a 201. Maybe a vid tomorrow

I'd love to see the pictures of the port work! I've thought about going back in on my 390 jug and thinning the bridge with a Dremel stack.
Terry would you thin the bridge all the way or just where it opens?

I would thin the bridge on the exhaust side of the bridge. I'd take it down towards the crankcase fairly far so that the bigger port window could actually flow to it's capability.

Here's the trick I was going to use on the 039/390 jug, I was going to use a TS-400 piston. The sides of the piston are open and could be used as part of the transfer tunnel. That way, I wouldn't have to take the bridge down too far into the crankcase. I'd shape the side of the piston below the bottom ring and then see where I had to take the bridge down to in order to get it to flow.

There is probably some other open port engines that may be able to use the slab sided pistons as part of the transfer tunnel.
