Husqvarna dealers in the area usually have some saws thrown up on some shelves with hand written price tags or no price at all and little in the way of accessories.

The only accessories you need two spike usually make them and heated handles. Hah. I want all arctic saws from now on.

1997 1500 4x4. 5.9 (360) 3.9 gears. Automatic. 268,000 miles. Neither the engine nor transmission have ever been out. I pull cars, tractors, and scrap with it often. It could use a paint job...View attachment 5497
Looks good! 5.7 is a good motor. :) Mine.....well....I think it could use a paint job more than yours at the moment! HAHA! 014.JPG

5.9... I had a 61 GMC for a short time years ago. It had a huge V6 and a 4 speed. I gave $125 for it. I drove it to the gas station next door and a guy offered me $450 for it. He owned it shortly thereafter...

My bad...5.9 I meant. haha Yeah, mine has the 305E V6 in it still. Darn good motor....brute low end torque for sure. I installed a 4 barrel and split the exhaust that made a big difference in power. Paid $500 for it. lol I may later on put a 478 V6 in it.

That 300 will run as long as you want it to. We had one in an F600 on the farm! It was not fast, but did it ever have torque...

They are more pricey in Norway also, retail price (1$=8,93nok today):
241 CM VW, 8250 nok
261 CM, 7990 nok
261 CM VW, 9100 nok
362 CM VW, 9650 nok
In general in Norway, there is more price wars between Husky/Jonsered dealers compared to Stihl dealers also.

I wish I could cough up 9650 nok. I'd have me one of them MS362's.

I never checked the prices on the bigger serie from Husky and Stihl, I'll see if I can do that tmr for those who compare prices.
Our currency is weak, seems they keep same prices on Husqy/Jonsered while Stihl have got price raise.
Best purchase for money is probleby 550xpg/2253wh, they only cost 25-50$ more for the heathed handle.

Dude I'd shell out another 500 nok for a heathed handle!!
heathed handle is far more expensive on Stihl compared to Husky/Jonsered. Xpg cost around 400 nok more then XP. Jonsered 2253 WH cost around 200 nok more then 2253, same difference from 2260WH vs 2260.

Those prices with heathed handles isnt easy to understand, example, 550xpg vs 550xp, price difference is 1000 nok in Sweeden.

Established global dealer network, parts supply and advertising, simple as that. Everyone credits Stihl for their serrated fasteners that hold well, my Partner 1967 R-16 has the same designed fasteners & so does my Solo ope. Stihl has a dealer network second to none in OPE, don't do internet, big box stores etc. Stihl could make their products and retail them for half the cost if they chose to do so, but its advertising and marketing that keeps them at the top and it costs a lot, far more than R&D. Spending big money on R&D will yield profits down the road, spending big bucks on advertising will yield profits tomorrow. They spend plenty telling you how good they are while secretly doing whatever they can to minimise production costs. Chinese parts & Zamma carbs are not their to improve quality one bit but they will improve the marketing budget. Saws of today may perform better and last longer however we may never see saws with the build quality of the past, it simply would cost too much.
