Showing you guys want is being done with some of the cookies from the mini mass GTG. He wants more... yes I have an excuse to cut more cookies from the logs Dan brought!

I would also like to get my stock Husqvarna 345 on the dyno for some before numbers. THEN, after it gets ported. For comparison numbers.

Eric, that is great stuff, who does that?

FYI, I counted the rings on the big (40+") Red Oak I cut last year and got 115 years old. Looks like a lot of years in this tree also.

I did the website for a friend of my Derek who is his own full time tree service http://carlsontreeserviceinc.com
A woman locally in the area submitted feedback on the site looking for a hollowed out log to make a model treehouse (doll house size) out of it.
She had been looking on facebook and the like for like 6 months.

I cut a piece off one of the logs Dan brought and hollowed out with several plunge cuts (just wanted to try for the challenge).
I gave her the result -- she was psyched.

Her husband was interested in some of the discs -- he sands them and burns in art. I think one his friends makes clocks out of them.
I gave him some of the cookies left over from the mass mini GTG.
Also a friend of mine is using several cookies as place settings and decor his fiancee wanted for their wedding. Gave a bunch of cookies to him.

There is definitely a market for these cookies -- if you search for rustic wedding wood discs you will find all kinds of people selling GTG cookies!

Lemme grab my phone I'll post some pictures of the hollowed out log.

I wish I had known. I cut down a large bkack walnut with the entire center eaten by carpenter ants. Would have been perfect for her artwork.

Oh -- and Ed texted me last night he will be back and offering some $$$ for some more cookies!
He'll be by on Sunday and we'll be cutting whatever cookies he's looking for.

His wife who used the hollowed log mentioned as a thank you for all of this I think they will be giving me a finished clock made out of one of the cookies.
The tree rings on that log Dan brought are way cool -- it's not a ton of firewood so I'm happy to cut a bunch of cookies! Maybe I should invite some friends over to cut many more cookies with many different saws... hmmm.

I'm going to be on the lookout when I do tree jobs w/ my brother and will start saving sections of hollowed out logs.
We cut up a huge willow that fell in blow down because the whole bottom section was hollow eaten by bugs for a long time.

You can't be too far from me -- next mini GTG for dyno work I'll make sure you and the guys nearby know about it!

Eric, if he wants large Oak cookies, let me know. I can make several 40" + rounds, and have some where the fork starts that are wider (large oval). I already have a request for a 3" thick piece for a table top. I have not converted the large rounds to firewood yet.

This stuff is still available.
