That 20" 404 setup pulls hard on a 90cc saw but it's fast

Buy a new stihl 063 20" and change the tip. I've got several new 404 tips for a stihl bar

Good point. Then I'll have a spare 3/8 tip in stock too. PM me a price if you want to sell a .404 tip.

Over on the West side. Right across from the twin cities. River Falls is the name of my town. Where you at?

That was what I was thinking.

Over by green bay for a couple more weeks. I'll check those bars out when I get home.

Funny

My 044 is my small saw.
My 026 never even gets fuel in it these days

Trees are a bit different here though.
Ive had a 460 since 2009 that I bet hasn't been ran 30 minutes, there good saws just not my cup of tea.

If a saw is heavy but runs accordingly I have no problem with the weight.
I've said it many times,it's not the saws fault your tired,it's the tree's fault.

The difference in weight between a 046 and a 066 is marginal but the power difference is huge.

Power to weight will be much better on the 066 than the 460.

I've had no problem with my 044 running a 28" bar, but it has the .063 groove which I believe helps.
You like a light and powerful saw so it's not going to get any better than a 064/066

I have the stuff to build you one

Appreciate the offer Jason, but I think I'm all tapped out. Have both a ported 066 and a ported 044/046-D hybrid in process (and an 036) and I already have 8 saws, so I gotta start letting go!

yep its an old thread but some imfo for anyone that curious ........

While on the discussion of bars and chains. Anyone run a 20" .404 setup on a 70cc class saw ?

yep all the time

I've been wanting to try a 20" .404 on my 660 for cutting firewood. Does anyone think the bearings on a 70cc saw might not like the .404? I've heard it's rough on bottom end, but maybe that's more of an issue only on longer bars.

I have been running this setup for 15 odd years with
ms460s and never had an issue with 20" and 28" bars

What do you mean letting go?
Don't you need saws to decorate the cabin?
