Nice Keith!!! I do wish I had an 064!

But, hey, I got lots of great stuff in the works, keeps life interesting! I'm exited about getting a ported 036, and a ported 066, and finally, I'm really looking forward to getting a ported 044/046-D Hybrid!!! All three are in the works, and I'm giddy about it. So I guess if your 64 years old and your giddy about saws you got in the works, LIFE IS GOOD!!!

I won't bore your guys with how giddy I am about the presents I'm getting my Grandson's for Christmas, that's another story! But I'm looking forward to them opening them too!!! There will be a lot of smiles!!!

These would be a great gift idea for someone who appreciates quality, Gransfors Bruks Splitting Axe or any Gransfors 20161217_085305.jpg

John and I cut a good size redoak this morning. Switched between the 064/66 and the 390 all morning. The 064 is very stout now that I bumped psi to 205psi

Yea, 200 +/- a little is good! Would like to run both of them!

You using their Axe, or splitting maul?
Yes the splitting axe . I have a bad left shoulder and the x27 depends on swing speed and that composite handle resonates pretty bad and tweaks my shoulder. The Gransfors hits more solid with less swing speed and the wooden handle is much more forgiving also

my friend has one for twisted and knotted woods he bought a solid metal maul one of those short red one and welded another section of pipe on the end.
we named it the rail splitter because it can really split some ugly wood
if you got the muscle to swing that heavy thing.

I have one of those too. It weighs 12lbs. It will sting your hands.

I have used numerous splitting mauls over the past 40 years, but I have not found anything (hand held) that out performs an X27. I do put some umph on it, and sometimes the handle does give you some feedback, but it is so much lighter than the mauls that I can keep going with it much longer.

Before I got the hydro, I split 15 cord with the X27 in one season, a lot of it large rounds of Hard Maple and Chestnut Oak. On the very tough stuff I would used wedges and the 16 lb hammer, but the majority of large rounds fell to the X27. I would just walk a like across the top of it, and it would pop after about 6 or 8 hits, and after that it was easy.

Got them in all different sizes, were the original Monster Maul by Sotz (they also made a kit for the 55 gal drum wood stove). Unfortunately, they are no longer in business. Gov shut them down after their $35 kit out performed a $600 Vermont Castings.
