Same seal, I usually bjust split them, better safe then sorry
What are you using to split them? I generally do a full rebuild when replacing seals but this one is leaking on the case side so I think I can get away with just a seal for awhile.

044 flywheel side seal is leaking. Any suggestions on removing the little prick without mucking up the case? Not a lot of room in there and I don't have the Stihl puller. Does the MS460 take the same seal? Looks the same to me...

Tap the one side of the seal in further so it's sitting a little cocked on the bore then use a screwdriver with a notch to pop the little bastid right out.

Thanks for the explanation Mike. I've pulled a lot of seals but that fugger is small and I don't wanna scratch the bore. I'll give it a shot...

I use the husky splitter, allows you to do a full check on the bearings while you are there, costs you a new gasket and I always put booth selas in when I do it too, peace of mind.
I'll likely do both seals. I don't have that splitter either. I've always punched a screw through them but that ain't happening on this one. Lol

If the bore gets scratched you can put a light coat of 518 on the outside of the seal before you tap it home. I typically put the 518 on regardless just to be safe.

I do the same. Makes them go in easier too I think. [emoji106]
