Saw shops around here are the same way.
One shop will sell to me but they very rarely have anything worth getting.
damn...what a dick move. do they really lose saw sales from you rebuilding junkers? if I wasn't such a hoarder, id have no problem selling junkers.

Yea, NONE of the local dealers will let me buy used stuff any more. One of them even told me he would throw it in the trash before he would sell it to me.

It is like they all have a pact not to reduce new saw sales.

I have an agreement with my dealer that I don’t sell anything Stihl locally.

A p41 or p42 dawg is the same thing, and will bolt right up.

New brake handle on 038 mag2...someone installed wrong one, and clutch would not disengage.
034 super needed a new handle, and a pull handle/cord.
Other 034 I picked up off one of the sites a while ago. Needed a fuel filter...lol. It is running a bit rough though. Pressure/vac test time.
Jonsered 2041...needed a new throttle cable...that was an effing joy!

These are all going in for a bath now.

Not a saw, but it’s on my bench...building a cr500 motor for a friend...it is in a newer cr250 frame...and it is for a hillclimber..A69EDB49-723F-4B3B-86EE-0C0B36C55B60.jpegFF18C6CF-DCCF-4354-9B12-406EC64A08FF.jpeg E807AB6A-81DC-4C10-A7B9-9C3D8E79C2A6.jpeg88913223-84EC-401D-89CD-F785CB49D392.jpeg
Every is roughed in..and now a fresh bore, have the final port layout marked up, it one is going to be wild, getting a custom pipe made up! Going to add a boost port window in the piston to feed the intake boot port, I added the two upper ports in the intake. Lots of room to work in a 500, 90mm bore!!

Thanks! Still a lot of grinding left, and the head takes a loooot of reworking, the factory squish angle is several degrees off, (smoothing out the hit!) so that has been recut but the final squish sill has to be set.

I hooked pa Dan up with a junker 024 last week when he was down around my way. As soon as he left I heard the sound of a vacuum sucking all the saw sales we lost because of it.

I have an agreement with my dealer that I don’t sell anything Stihl locally.

Why?

Because I would hate for him to suffer because of the great deals he gives me. I earn my living working for a family owned small/medium sized business, I should do everything I can to support others.

For instance, he takes $100 off a used saw for me, in my mind it isn't okay to then take that same saw mark it up $100 and post it on Kijiji for local sale. That is like stealing $100 from a friend. Did I have to do some work to earn that $100, I did but the chance to do it was given to me by the dealer himself.

So he discounts used but running saws to you? Ok. I thought you meant you don't rebuild junkers then sell them locally.

My Stihl dealer does not sell used saws to the public. But I have an agreement with him now to buy any 026/260, 036/360, 046/460, 066/660 saws from them for my personal use. The owner liked the idea. I am in there all the time, as he also sells many other products. [emoji106]
