Hey, speaking of "budget saws", I got 2 576s at the moment, one runs perfectly, the other is parts in a box, and I think it needs bearings.

Man i wish you guys went so far. I got a saw that may qualify. Got a total of little under 200 into my hooskey 181.

Hey, 2 years ago I picked up a nice low hour MS440 for $50, had a burned piston. The saw had just been tuned up, new plug, HD-2 air filter and OEM fuel filter. Back then, got a new OEM piston for < $50, cleaned the cylinder using Randy's method, deleted the base gasket, advanced the timing, and added dp Muffler cover.

(After tune up, they set the Hi at 1/4 turn out instead of the low, and burned it up).

Got a great running, reliable saw, for about $100 and some work. But those deals are hard to find! I only got it cause the place was moving.

I think you gotta put a 36” on with a 8 pin and a big piece of wood to really load the saw and video it so you can time them.
