How do you like them forester bars?

Firewood cutters no problems. Wear like oregon powermatch. Now I have read tips go out quicker, but havent seen that here with firewood cutters use.
Powermatch tips interchange from what I read too.

Now a logger just got one of those forester pro chrome looking bars. That will tell me something when he starts using it.

The red labeled white bars seem even better then the green labeled one too.

I dont buy their laminated stuff. To much bad feedback read on them.

You should have no issue returning that.

The Hyway 390 kit from HL is well worth the money and makes a great runner out of these. . All depends on what your friend/customer is willing to spend.
Contacted the seller yesterday through eBay, no response yet.

The piston rings in this kit have "HY" on them, is it possible I already have a Hyway kit?

For me purchasing from HLSuply is a no go, shipping to Europe is too steep - I think it's 60-70$.
Shame too, they have a lot of interesting stuff at affordable prices.

Well, the acquaintance was looking for a cheap fix after he was quoted about 250$ for repairs at the Stihl dealership.

Is that impulse nipple bolted or pressed into the cylinder boot?
I was thinking of replacing the broken AM one with the one of the trashed OEM cylinder.
Anyone know this???

This kit that I received looks fairly nice.
I don't know what to think of the intake though, the lover lip appears to have no bevel.

I don't have customers, too many opinionated complaints!
This kit is for the son in law of a good coworker of mine, I quoted him the kit at eBay purchase cost - no personal profit added.
I haven't told him yet that the kit arrived, I'm trying to figure out my next step regarding the damage first.

I've read that alot of those impulse nipples are not in there very tight in the first place. It might come out very easily.

Compressed air usually does the trick.
Got er running. Dryed out the case. Held it wide open and pulled a bunch of time and it finally lit. It smoked like crazy till it cleaned itself out lol.
Just gotta wait for a better day and ill pit it in wood and tune it. Raining like crazy here now.

Great news I'm glad to hear that it's running. It may sound funny, but holding it full throttle to start it is part of the original instructions. I will take a pic of the instructions when I get a chance.

The Hyway cylinder has a couple bridges across the transfers. If it has those then I guess it could be Hyway. Never really know with this Chinese stuff.

I'd say if you can remove the nipple from the OEM cylinder it would be easy to fix the new one. Drill it out a little undersized and press it in with a little epoxy to help hold it.

Lol sold one on eBay recently and the guy said it wouldn't start. Had to talk him through it. High idle setting on the new stuff is a great thing.

I just hate starting stuff wide open. My personal saws i choke till they pop then take choke off hit trigger to drop to idle abd uaually take another pull or two.
Just seems so hard on a cold motor to fire up half throttle.

Thanks for all the help.

Your more than welcome. I know what you mean about the cold start, but it seams to be the way to go on these.

Is that the shiny One? And was it more that the chains was crappy or did the bar just give you problems no matter What?

Was the red and white copy of the Windsor. Chain was complete crapola and the bar was just shy of being the next size right out of the package. Would have been good for cutting half moons in outhouses if they were still in use. No bar shops around here so I returned it to planet Earth, where it came from.

I buried a new 24 inch Forester Pro bar and chain in the back yard, cut circles around the rest...literally. Never again.

Just looked at one of those. Forester pro bars. Pretty sad for $50 shipped IMO. Chrome looking one. Guess we are talking about 2 different bars.

20" Rails were not finished. Light feeling not heavy like the German solid bar it copied.
Had both on hand to compare.

Guy is going to run it on a 3120 to see what happens. ;) Told him I want to see it after some time on it.

My pair of pioneers are sitting on the bench. Been wanting to work on them for a while now. Not sure which one to start first.

The one one the right is a 620. It has spark. Pops when fuel poured down carb. But the clutch cover is broken.

The left one 600 has broken pull cord so dont know if it has spark. But is complete far as i can see. No broken parts.

Both fuel tanks are all gummed up inside so will have to try and get them cleaned out somehow.

Couple of cool old saws you got there. White vinegar cleans out the fuel tank pretty good.
