Remember the fuel mix has to enter through the carb into the crankcase and then it has to have enough pressure to pump it up through the transfer ports into the combustion chamber. If it does not have enough compression or a bad air leak in the crankcase then the fuel will not transfer up the ports.

Yeah you might be on to something here. Compression hasn't been talked about yet. I might have a decent top end to give him. I will check tomorrow.

In his original post I think he says it has 135 psi which should be enough to make it run. He also states that it was flooded. So that is why I want him to pump the crankcase dry with compressed air. Needs to start over again from ground zero and then see what is going on.

Compressed air usually does the trick.

Not on my bench, but rather on my PC table.

AM 49mm 039 P&C kit off eBay, and no I don't have any Stihl saws, I got it for an acquaintance for his blown 039 (his OEM P&C are not salvageable, they ate a circlip).

I'm not happy with the AM P&C kit that I received today, something looks very wrong!

Hint: It wasn't an "impulse" purchase!

On the plus side you will know it's installed right. I've heard nightmares of them things half assed setting in there and being overlooked and causing an air leak.

Look again, it broke off!

The box it got shipped in was too tight, no cushioning material whatsoever.

The broken piece is stuck firm between the cylinder fins, quite possible it was already broken off when it got shipped.

Can this be fixed easily and reliably?
Can that thing be had as a separate part from Stihl?

I'm not a Stihl guy, just trying to salvage the situation.
As I said, I was asked to get this kit off eBay, as such it is not for me but for a third person.

Not yet, it arrived yesterday.
Trying to figure out my options, but will take pictures and contact seller.

Thus far I had good luck with eBay and Chinese sellers.
Only two issues, got a refund both times no problem.
Hope this turns out OK as well, although I'd rather have received an undamaged item and just pass it on to the third person.

Compression is 135. Should be enough to make it fire i would think.

I will dry the case and start again to see what happens. Im thinking no point in swaping carb yet if the plug is getting wet. It should at least pop.
Dont really want to but im thinling i may have to check it for air leaks. It woyld have to be pretty major for it to not try and start at all.

May also pull a plug out of a running saw to make sure its not the plug. Plug in it looks to have good spark outside the engine.

If it is flooded it will not pop or do anything.

You should have no issue returning that.

The Hyway 390 kit from HL is well worth the money and makes a great runner out of these. . All depends on what your friend/customer is willing to spend.
