I've seen sparks piss reving a ms261 at night to get the mtronic to reset. It sent a pretty solid stream out. It was a high hour saw with a lot of carbon build up. Got me worried at the time that something else was wrong. You can get away with a lot until the day you don't. I asked a old man when I was teenager if it was safe while he was smoking and cleaning carb parts in a coffee can of gas. He looked at me like I was the dumbest person in the world and put his cigarette out in the can of gas. It was in winter. I wouldn't try that but it didn't catch fire. I also got a short lecture about vapers vs fuel and temperature humidity etc vs flash point.

I find some hidden errors when I go through them part by part before assembly.

Good thing I have something similar lying around, even though it's from a model that's 5 years older.

It’s been a while since I’ve had a clutch off. It still hate them.

Greased the bearing, it was dry. Kubota multi-purpose grease was not my first choice, but it was what we had.

New sprocket. It was time. It looks like Stihl has changed the design of the 3/8-7 pin.

Cleaned it up. Noticed it’s going to need a chain catcher. I’ll get that another day. We already made some runs and it’s time to train somebody.

Got this 562 for about an hour and a half worth of work on some other saws for the owner of a pawn shop.

2020 mk1, piston was lightly scored up probably from straight gas. My guess was the first tank they ran through it was probably straight gas, based on the condition it is in (looks almost mint).

Today, I cleaned up the cylinder, modded the muffler, and threw a Meteor piston kit into it. Cost: $55 + $75 worth of work.

I gave mine a mild timing advance on the flywheel (after mm and adjustable carb) it improved throttle response without being too crazy
Ya that’s on the list too, just taking it step by step. Thanks for the advice. Have an ms180 to do as well, it runs ok stock, but have the adjustable carb waiting for the right time

That will be on the list, and a .50 gage bar and some picco chisel chain!
I put a side tensioner on mine and an 18".050 3/8. 7 tooth rim sprocket and Picco Super full chisel. With the muffler opened up, adjustable carb and timing advance it pulls the longer bar in 14" hardwood better than expected.
