Hybrid made 3 cuts then clutch and oil pump went boom. Stinks it was a brand new clutch too I forgot to put the washer behind the clutch. That one stings

Now that's terrible!! Is the center section of the clutch still good? I might have the three shoes but a bad center section.

Is the case okay? Nothing cracked or broke?

Got the 064 all stripped down and mostly cleaned up, had a little damage to the front part of the case, not leaking though, it has been upgraded with a larger pin crankshaft and the cylinder looks pretty decent! Definitely glad I split the cases, the crank bearings are pretty crusty! IMG_2225.jpegIMG_2226.jpegIMG_2227.jpegIMG_2228.jpeg

Working on a buddies ms310. Scored bad. Complete tear down. Oh I love working on Stihls🤣 I have a deep resect for guys that are hard core stihl. Now, I do like the ones ive ran in the past. Don't get me wrong I don't have as much experience with them, mostly clammys(which suck) 034's, 360s, 046, but it seems like they build them so whenever u have to replace something 20 other parts r in the way🤣 is it just me? And this bar stud to block contraption set me off🤣 is there a special tool to remove it? I used channel locks, 1/8th turns, PB and cus words🤣20250413_140015.jpg20250413_135900.jpg

Looks like a good time. Time to go 390 with it eh? No room for double nutting the bar stud?

I was thinking 390 myself but he's not gonna wanna get a new cylinder. I think I can clean this one up for him. As for the double nut I thought that after I was 3/4 of the way done, lol! I found some nuts just to mock it up for reinstalling, it's pretty close to the end with 1 nut. 2nd nut catches by literally 1/2 turn. U think that's good enough? Kind of doesn't seem like enough thread to me but I've not done it. Any time I've double nutted something it's been at least a full bolt of threads catching.17445919167943983800521263396632.jpg

Me neither. The first ones had metal tanks, then they got a clue and switched to plastic tanks. Only two versions I’m aware of.
I’d also like to say that it was the opinion of somebody who was in the PNW at the time that i was sharing as I wasn’t nowhere near there at any time. Reading back over my post made it look like I was implying I was.
The mx stands for modified extra.
Plastic fuel tank with a bigger capacity for fuel.

The only week part of the 143 is the 2 piece crankshaft.

I only added grease to the bearing behind the rotor and the rest is ok 👍🤠 All that's left is the name and a bit of orange paint 😉 Poles also produced it in those days, it was called Celma

The equipment is from 1994 and the service sticker is 3 years later. I just added grease 🤠👍 The saw blade is 6" with a small handle. I found them a long time ago and it was time to try them out

You can buy an 8MM stud remover cheap. Work both ways.

Yeah that’s seems a little too close for me. As stated you can always use a stud installer. Or keep using what works for you lol.

LOL! I'm gonna check into this stud tool. Sounds slick. I'd rather not do it again my way. Kinda boogered up where the bar sits. It was a bish the whole way out, not just cracking it loose. It was like there was a thread locking fluid on the bolt.

Didn't take a before pic. Surprisingly the transfer was not horrible. It was very light, not super thick or really bonded if that makes sense. It was more like the gray soot from a slow death from an air leak. Did leave 1 groove but runable for sure. The rest cleaned up perfectly. 1 Crank bearing had a lil noise about every 5th spin. Other was fine.Crank was smooth and I flushed it and rechecked it multiple times. Will get new Crank and wrist pin bearings, on order and waiting.20250414_202345.jpg20250414_202307.jpg
