I brought the Junk Yard Dog SP125 back for some parts replacement, thanks again to JJ, Vinny, and Lee for their contributions.







I noticed the fuel tank was weeping in a couple of spots so I changed that for one that I'd cleaned up and given the Red Kote treatment a few weeks back. I also changed the key less clutch for a keyed clutch to prevent slipping. This one will be put to work, my current work saw will get cleaned up and moved over to the museum for display.

I know it's not something most people would do but I salvaged a cracked intake boot on one of the Makita concrete saws .I could find the replacement part but they just didn't look correct .So cleaned it with carb cleaner and used Loctite 410 which is an o-ring type super glue , seems to be working .Well you'll never know until you try it .Now one more carb rebuild and a new blade bolt I should have it both of them ready to go .

I use clear plastic "fishing tackle" type organizers for the hardware.
That way when I drop the or knock them over I'm not hunting for bits and pieces that end up hiding behind or under everything!

They are cheap and easy to clean also.

I generally tend to just scatter the parts and hardware all over the lift table and bench so it mostly just gets lost lol.

Just kidding I use cardboard boxes and recycled plastic coffee cans/Chinese soup containers. Very good idea!

Butt deep in snowblower repairs.

Poulan pro just needs minor welding/hardware bits and final reassemble/service/testing. Boss man welded the wheels up for me saving the customer a substantial amount of money.

MTD just needs primer bulb/hose, shoes and scraper bar/shoe adjustment.

Ariens is waiting for parts.

If it's something that I know won't be going back together right away I try to organize the hardware in order of disassembly to make it easier to go back together in the future when I have long forgotten taking it apart!!

That egg carton idea is awesome. That's perfect and cheap. Put some high rpm valve springs in the 12v today. What a difference in idle quality and quietness. Big difference in the normal diesel rattle.

Putting together a 2245 w/ a 2250 top end kit. Flywheel key was sheared so I’m going to score it and use a piece of wire and some compound. View attachment 274227
Should have pulled it apart, the cylinder might have been salvageable. Piston looked pretty toasty so I just got the full kit.

Waiting on an ex gasket and a couple screws/nuts. Husky will get sailed and the red is probably going to my dad. The decomp will hopefully allow him to start it easier than his 435.

Kind of crazy to see a Lowe’s sticker on a Husqvarna 55, everything they’ve sold since I got into saws is plastic homeowner stuff.

crankshaft case bearings and both case seals. I think mine was made in 1981 IIRC. I'm not able to check currently,

Bearings should be 6202 c3 and seals are available from Husqvarna, last time I checked

Easy Rider magazine at one time had a book that showed what fits what on Harley Davidson .It sure would be nice if somebody did that for chainsaws ,concrete saws etc . I don't keep concise note but should have .All I know is some Husqvarna parts will fit Partner and some Dolmar parts will fit Makita .Other than that unless you have a warehouse full of parts it's a guessing game .There's some real parts Guru's but even they get messed up at times .Then again if it were easy anybody could do it .

Needed a cleanup, full of fine sawdust. Helped a friend out. A pay it forward effort. Wouldn't start. Filter plugged solid. everything else checked out OK. Ran good after cleanup.

I just knew it, felt it in my bones .Both concrete saws have had the carbs rebuilt but they were those flippen yellow check valves things which I hate with a passion .Found two rebuild kits that had the good old buna n impregnated paper kind .Be here next week .I've used the mylar kind on Tilley HL's and had no problems .However on the little carbs like a Walbro WJ they've just given me fits .I'm getting tired of working on those things .
Danged concrete saws with all the shrouding etc to attempt to keep from dust ingestion are not the most user friendly things to work on . I think I found something worse than a Mini Mac .

MTD 5/22 snowblower is all done with the exception of a new set of shoes and shoe adjustment which I'm going to do tomorrow. Dad is helping me deliver Sunday morning as it won't fit in the car and I can't use my trailer as I still have to install the hitch and wiring harness.

064 is done! Fun rebuild. Ported for torque. Sittin at .023 squish but I don’t have a lathe to get that 3 thousands so it gets what it gets. New DP muffler and cover also port matched to the cylinder. 066 brake flag fit on perfectly with a spacer and the old wrap handle was bent up pretty darn good so it also gained a new one.. Ran it in some hard wood and man she pulls hard and it runnin pretty fat until there’s some heat cycles ran through it.. The owner is pretty happy to say the least. On to the 044!

Makita saws are mostly Dolmar made making parts fully interchangeable, the issue begins figuring out to which Dolmar saw model a Makita relates to.

There are some Maruyama saws that are Dolmar's, but also Dolmar/Makita saws that are Maruyama's.

Having old and new IPL's helps a lot identifying compatible parts.
Luckily Dolmar/Makita offer them for free download on their websites.
