I've had leaded fuel deposits bridge the sparkplug gap. I tried 110 octane race fuel while looking for an alternative to the *s-wordty pump gas that was available. Only had it happen in one saw so it coulda been a freak thing....

Most likely an improper avgas mix that was low or missing ethylene dibromide, which is an additive that combats lead fouling. Typically airports will sell low grade or off grade fuel for cheap with the stipulation for non-aviation use.
