I learned that the hard way too. They specify 5x16 m5 cap screws for bottom limiters on the ipl. They don’t bugger the holes quickly because they are shorter. The pins go in top holes which are made for the longer screw. That’s a nice solution you got there though. What are those husky 350 limiter bushings?

Those saw are a tank for sure.

It is a tank, no doubt. Stout tank now! I kinda like these saws more and more. Truth be told you can’t beat them for the price point.

Always wondered how close they are to the ones on the Stihls.

They were on the OE372 not the XT saws.

How does the 044 Zama stack up to the Walbros?

Not sure. I have only used Walbro carbs on the 044/046 saws.

The 372 hd12 has a 17.46 Venturi. Bit larger than the zama c3m or the 371xp hd6.

If the zama is the right one (twin jet) people can supposedly mod it to perform well. I also wonder if the internal jetting is richer on the non epa hd6 compared to the hd12 epa carb. That might offset the smaller Venturi disadvantage maybe?

Anyone that wants the most from the larger Stihl saws, 044, 046, 066/660, 661, 084, 088, 880 should do whatever they can to install a MaxFlow. Nothing compares, and everything else will hold a ported saw back a little bit
