I've run my 044 w/28" bar w/o any problem. I think you will be OK as long as you are not boring in, etc.

Shouldn't be doing any boring. How do you like that 28" bar? I have thought for a while now that a 28" light weight would be just about the perfect but just cant make my self buy one.

The 28” stihl LW bar is pretty dang nice on an 044. Feels like it’s hardly there

I like that bar a lot, but I have transferred it to my Hybrid and run a 20" on the 044. I love the 28" light bar on a light saw for felling, and bucking single logs in rugged terrain, but if you are in a pile of logs, the 20" is nicer, less "over cut" (going into the next log).

The last time the 28" was on the 044 it bucked a bunch of Red Oak and Hickory in a wooded area, was great. Amazing what that will do with less than 1 tank of fuel.

Bought this 359 off of here a while back.It showed up not exactly as advertised. Any way neither here nor there. I've just about got it into shape. It was leaking around intake so this is what I done to stop it. Gonna run it some today if the rain holds off. Is this an acceptable repair?

I've heard of using a Stihl intake boot hose clamp before but that looks like something I would do in a jiffy lol.

I did the old sling the oil out on the floor test last night it did have some coming off but I wouldn't want to us it like that all day every day
if you are worried about not having enough juice on there snag some winter blend bar oil or cut it with some kerosene. That what I did with my squeals.

28-30” bar is better suited for a 046 imho, the oiler and torque is also better on a 46 too. My ported 044 I had did fine power wise and OK oiling with a 28” cannon in soft cottonwood. Didn’t try that setup in oak, but I think it’s a really a 20-24” saw for hardwood with the stock oiler.

I hate the winter blend, bar gets too hot in hardwood

Yeah I usually run a 24" on it but just was gonna run this 30 on it just to see how she handles it.

I used a clamp from an 044 on my 346 and it worked nicely. Little smaller than the hose clamp. But if it works![emoji106][emoji106]

It was a little mean getting on. You gotta get the tightening screw just so. It's holding tune so far this morning. Going to go put it in some wood here in a few min. Time will tell.
