My favorite to work on.

Husqvarna 338xpt I been working on troubleshooting on my spare time. Rebuilt carb, thinking carb issue and was thinking of ordering a new one. Since no change after rebuild. Checked intake boot it wasnt tore like I thought it would be. So I started thinking seals. So getting ready to pull motor, removed flywheel to get started. What a find. = big smile. Now if the piston isnt scored up I will be very happy.

There is a couple saw shops in town but one in particular seems to be my go-to, especially for random stuff. The owner is a 92yo man who is in poor health. He has 1 steady employee and another old guy who comes in 2 days a week. The shop is struggling and I hate to see the amount of knowledge and experience be wasted by it closing up. While I was there recently I gave some pointers to the full time employee on the saw he was working on (Homelite XL12) since I had just finished on one. Owner asked me if I knew about saws and I told him just enough to get in trouble. He hinted that he was looking for a good saw mech but times have been tough for him. Since I will be retired soon I decided to volunteer at the shop a couple days a week to help him out. Help him get his feet back under him, get caught up and hopefully keep the doors open. Plus, this allows me to pick his brain amd get some of the knowledge and tricks he has. On top of it all he has stacks upon stacks, covering every surface, of OEM parts. Majority of them are NIP/NIB. I bet it is a treasure trove of cool stuff!
