372xp case

from a severely failed bottom end. Sitting for a long time with lots of baked residue accumulated around the bearing seats and in the case bore between the bottom of the bearing seat and seal. Main bores seem fine, though I'll still do a little surface cleaning with some 20 micron lapping paper.

Otherwise, I'm looking for suggestions on how to clean up the baked on crud without gouging or scraping the adjacent surfaces..., which pretty much takes a Dremel out of the picture. Was thinking about using a socket of the appropriate size and gluing some 320 grit paper to it/trimming it down to size and gently working the area? The halves are in the USC right now and I'm hoping the crap may loosen up a bit after some agitation. The gasket remains are really baked onto the case halves, too. Hope they loosen up at the same time.

TIA for any recommendations.

USC with heat good cleaner then blast and powdercoat is the best for that
Dont go crazy where seal goes
Where bearings are scrape it out gently too

It's on the ground! All that's left is:

Build spare tire mount
Build winch mount
Mount jack & crank
Mount fenders
Build ramp supports
Finish welding diamondplate
sandblast
prime
paint
wire

I actually think the cylinder may clean up....but there is a lot of transfer all around the cylinder.
Give him a battery powered Makita.

Purchased a used Dolmar PS-7300 two days ago, she came in today.

She's been heavy handed and possibly abused, as such she's in need of some love and attention.

That been said, I have a Dolmar PS-7300 to fix up. :)

Picked these two slant fin 044s up this spring along with a complete in a box 046 artic.
one 44 has 75 comp the other 175, one had a broken spike mount . Should be able to get one good runner .
Am at my cabin for the winter so next step is to vac and pressure test, have to make the stuff do do that.
Red circle on the broken spike tab/thingy.

If you want I could lend you my vac and pressure testing equipment. You were greedy and wouldn't sell me the projects so I don't have any to work on right now...

Will it need more than just a top end switch? (and of course some fresh rubber etc)

I think a good clean and going over, might just change the seals anyway, then you know what you got.
Goota check the cylinder on the one.
Know a fellow who tigs magnesium so may get the case welded. The 046 arctic is all there in pieces , cases are split.
Canadians can be tight assed!! Thanks for the offer I have a tester,,I am spending winter at my cabin in the forest and need projects to, come by for a beer! Happy hour at 4:30pm PST

That's a shame. It looks new on the outside.
