Got all the saws that aren't dogs done, just 2 dogs, the Hitachi acted like it needed the carb rebuilt so I did that and it still does the same thing. I'll check into the pulse next to see if it broke. And of course an 041 which does just what my other one did. This one only has 120 compression which is a bit low but it's got spark. I rebuilt the carb on it also to no avail, probably an air leak..I'll probably check the timing tomorrow just to make sure the condenser isn't open...

Working on an ms440 and 064. The 440 had a hell of an afternoon.....went to try and pull start it and I noticed it was seized solid. Pulled the cylinder to find that one of the c clips was broken and did severe damage the piston and cylinder. Didn't help that the crankshaft bearing was severely worn out either. Well.....it'll be about $900 to fix that 440.
The 064.......sigh* it's also a pile. Just goes to show how little people care about their own s-word. I'm betting around $250 to fix that saw right.

I've completely rebuilt many 044/440's.
Most I've ever sank into one for a complete rebuild was around $300-350.
Not sure where your coming up with $900

My bench has my 064 on it, getting ready for a total restoration, I ordered a new top cover and a new fuel tank, next I will order the airfilter cover and holder, then a new brake and handle, send it for new powdercoatin and all new bearings and seals, this 1 will take me a bit longer as it is my saw and I have to pay for my new zero turn mower first, still trying to decide whether to powder the clutch cover or replace it?

I believe tj works for a dealer. Sounds pretty close to me for parts plus labor....depending on his shops labor rate.
