I finished this restoration yesterday. It's a 1946 Wilton No 4, 4 1/2" bullet machinist vise.

Very nice job Doctor! I really like the accent highlights on the characters.

I will take it slow and easy Mike.
Did a sucessful exercise at the hospital on Monday, gone ask them on thursday if I can start to pull chainsaws :D

You got saws for all those carbs?
No Dan, a few of them are for saw builds, 1×199 and the 182 is shaft swap project, always wanted to try them out on 262 and 242 ;)

Yeah, I know what ya mean. The old guy (and his wife) across the street got moved to an old folk home a while back. I helped him many a time and had seen the inside of his garage often. When they were packin', I walked over and asked for these as a reminder. They always caught my eye. Just a small reminder of a good neighbor. They were more than happy to oblige.

He was also big into horse racing and she gave me a pail full of horse shoes. Gotta hang a couple up and for the rest thers some pretty cool ideas on the net for stuff to make with them.

Those plates are pretty cool. Never seen any like that before.

My wife's grandmother passed away a couple months ago. She had hoarded a lot of stuff as some people do. The uncle had been cleaning things out but most of the garage stuff had largely gone untouched since her grandfather passed in 1998. The uncle finally got things manageable and asked if we wanted to come over and go through things. She got an ancient doll she always liked and a few mechanical clocks and some furniture etc...

I got grandpa's old craftsman tool box and his old bench vise. The box fit right on my red bottom box nicely. The vise is really neat and marked made in England on the other side. Here's also a pic of the junky little vise I had that came with my house. 20170221_195030.jpg 20170221_195157.jpg 20170221_195011.jpgGrandpa's old vise will not be restored, it's just fine as is. Anyone have a guess as to the age of this vise or the craftsman box? The drawers are really solid and sturdy.
