On my bench right now is a couple of Stihl 290s which will end up as 390s, but waiting on parts right now. If the parts get here this week I'm afraid the build will take place in my house, not the semi-heated shop. That's gonna take a bunch of cardboard and much care or wife won't be too happy..

Geeez, MS290s. One of my least favorite models to work on, but have fun! Sounds like the kitchen is gonna smell like old fuel.

Fitted a 153 cylinder onto my dolmar 144

Cleaned up and ported the exhaust abit, steps are darn hard to put in. Need to get my cousin to tig a little more ali in so I can fully smooth out the damage to the lower lip. Guessing cylinder was ran without a gasket for a while..

Got a nice 2171 sitting on there right now. Might have to put a bar back on it and play around some more. Found 2 460 cylinders today I didn't remember having. Might machine them and 2 372 cylinders.

Thought I better take a pic while I had one of each model apart, left to right is 390, 372, 365, 357 and 346. The secret to Huskys great performance stock is exhibited here in the bottom fed quad trans, and skewed exhaust on each of these models.

Working on a 036 have two muffler's first must be EPA model

2nd must be early 036 ?
Question would you guys open the larger one or run as is ? I'm thinking about opening the smaller opening one and leaving the old one stock ? Opinions ???
