is someone of you that have work TIMKEN bearings ?? i listen that are the best in the market

Used them for years for Automotive applications, even ask for them now days with all the generic parts that are about. I've put 40 year old Timken bearings back into service before using some of the new stuff. Would like to know if they made bearings and seals for power saws.

MS440 back together. New Meteor Piston w/Caber rings, reclaimed old cylinder by removing transfer(very small amount), .028" squish, port matched and polished. Dual outlet muffler and HD2 Air filtration system, Walbro HD17A rebuilt w/ K10-HD kit. All new seals, lines, pickup, filters, drum, bearing, sprocket and such. Large clutch cover with extra dog and a little bit of personalization for its new owner.
This saw can now enjoy retirement from tree care professional daily work, to nice easy life as an occasional use firewood saw.

Now after seeing Panteliss's bench, I think I better clean and organize mine, or burn the whole shop down and start over. Napalm anyone?

First I made a template on the computer and printed it off. Cut it out where I could tape it where I wanted it with masking tape. Then took a fresh razor knife and cut into the paint following the pattern. Now with an outline to follow, I used my cable drive with a small diamond V bit to go around and make an edge up to the scored line. Then put a rounded diamond cutter in and did the middle parts in between. Then a small artists brush with some clear on it and it's done. You didn't think I'd leave ya hanging, did you?
This isn't something I normally do, but this saw is for my friends son. So time did not matter, as I basically am doing this for cost.

To put it into perspective; Timken bearings are like your work bench. Every other bearing is like everyone else work bench!

Nothing on the bench

open_s_3.1.jpg

Speaking of which, how can you say there is nothing on the bench when it is like a chainsaw repair wonderland? There's everything on that bench and a little bit more. It's like a tool truck vomited on the wall and everything landed exactly where it's supposed to be. Very nice work environment you have there, I'm still not quite over it just yet, I just keep staring at it. It is very inspirational to say the least. I will try to emulate some of that into my new work area when it is ready. Spend too much time digging for tools.

Here's a normal bench. Panteliss' bench is some sort if weird anomaly...if it don't take you 10 minutes to find your crescent wrench to get your degree wheel off then you're doing it wrong.

Takes me a half hour. I have to root around like a hog. Yours is a vision of organization compared to mine.

made some progress tonight. Most of the covers are just held on by one screw. I had to see what it is going to look like. I found one problem. The brake flag does not fit. It isn't wide enough to go over the recoil. It's a 064 style I got off Randy. Looks like I could take and shave some off the side to get it to fit. But not sure yet.

All the screw heads and all hardware are painted black. Was a pita but worth it I think. If it runs half as good as it looks I'll be happy. [emoji4] [emoji4]

Ya buddy looking good! Does the angle of the brake flag line up with your 3/4 wrap handle?

I only have one screw in the handle right now. It's not sitting where it should be. And the flag is not in its right spot either. I got that wrap on trade and think it's aftermarket. Which I'm ok with, just need to see how it will all work. I was able to engage and disengage the brake. I'll look at it more tomorrow.
