026 got a shiny new bar and chain

View attachment 452389

Tossed the 16" it came with on the scale and answered why a saw with such a little bar felt nose heavy

Very nice! I was thinking about getting one for my 026 as well as some WCS spikes. For now I ordered some mid grade spikes and will see how I like the 14" Stihl bar after I get it back from porting.

Here’s a look at the 030AV that was given to me after cleanup (and a few new parts). I wish it looked as good on the inside as it does the outside. Bearings have rust on them so if I start it, it will self destruct shortly. I’d really like to run it, but if I do it will only be for a minute. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

I have anchors 😉 which is called Husqvarna 42, the crankshaft was bent and the piston, I replaced the piston and slowly started it without disassembling it. It looked really bad inside, I work hard with it and I'm waiting for it to fall apart 🤠😎

Those bearing might clean up in a USC tank in a bath of carb cleaner after a few cycles. If just surface rust you might be surprised.

It seems to be in good shape, the bar itself has some pretty big gouges and nicks in the rails. It's hanging on the purgatory screw of just in case bars.
Just grind the rails down till the dings are out, leaving just enough groove for a new chain to clear. 😁

Does anyone know what or if there's a difference between the Walbro red and black needles? I took measurements and they measure identical to one another.
I don't, I just use whatever comes in the kit, doubt if it makes a difference, probably whatever dye the maker had on hand.

If you’ve got the hang of those, I have a project for you.
I just slapped a new AM piston in this one... I have more parts coming for the 2nd one... I'll port the 2nd one and do a cut comparison... if I like the ported one, I wouldn't be opposed to working on more.
What's your project?

Does that some one also slash wood?
I can neither confirm nor deny such reports, but yes. I only get thoroughly angry at projects that don't go well and I've been putting in a major effort to not let it get the better of me, but that was the straw that broke the camel's back.
