You have an odd one there. Hopefully someone well versed in 2 series saws comes along.257 base gasket. As you can see, the transfers are open on the bottom, case and gasket block the transfers.
What does the intake flange on the cylinder look like?257 base gasket. As you can see, the transfers are open on the bottom, case and gasket block the transfers.
Yup, 257. Open port transfers. Side fed, not bottom feed.257 base gasket. As you can see, the transfers are open on the bottom, case and gasket block the transfers.
+1 it looks just like the jug I took off Steve Linn’s 257 when I did the 262 conversionYup, 257. Open port transfers. Side fed, not bottom feed.
Yes sir, if I wasn't bedded down for the nite I'd take a pic of the 257 jug I have in the shop to verify.+1 it looks just like the jug I took off Steve Linn’s 257 when I did the 262 conversion
I’ve only seen a couple 257, but I thought they were open port but completely side fed, and not all the way through the baseI think 257s have always been open transfer - 254s and 262s are closed. 261s are closed but have the dished piston.
It looks exactly like the 262, same part number gasket. What does the intake flange on the cylinder look like?
That’s why I asked. The 257 flange, gasket, collar, and block are different than those on a 262It looks exactly like the 262, same part number gasket.

The gasket set I have, I thought was the same as the 262. It does say there is a slight difference. That’s why I asked. The 257 flange, gasket, collar, and block are different than those on a 262
As you can see, the main difference between the two is the impulse location. The gasket set I have, I thought was the same as the 262. It does say there is a slight difference.
Had to run it before I replied, took down another tree and yes it oils better. Cleaning it, bar had oil soaked gunk and oil hole had oil in it. Thanks again! I can post picture of tree taken down if needed.Worked well huh?
