I was over at my friends house the other night skinning a couple deer, and I noticed his Husky 350 was partly disassembled on the bench. I took it home to fix it up for him. Oddly it was wearing an 18” 3/8” bar & chain. The clutch had the spur sprocket, so I suspected it was .325”. Turns out I was right. Anyway, I took the crank out and re-sealed the bottom end….the bottom of the riser was warped badly, so I trued that up. The saw also had a crappy 44mm open transfer AM jug on it. I swapped that top end for a decent 45mm OEM jug I had and a flat-top AM piston. I went ahead and did a muff mod (with a brace) and a healthy timing advance as well. Hopefully it serves him well for many more years.View attachment 392794View attachment 392795

After making these two cuts, I had to open the high jet another 1/8 turn to get it to 4-stroke after warming up.
Husqvarna 350 repaired with muffler mod & timing advance. 3/8” chain
So Greg, I have this deer that might need skinning....😅

Got Jonsered 535 which I bought 20yrs a go for urgent need of chainsaw. It had badly cracked oil tank because of intense meeting with tractors rear wheel. It was then retired after handling 2, semi-fallen pines.
Occasionally I started it, like once in every 5 yrs. Now I do have some, like 10, birches to fall and I thought now it is the time to wake up old red. Properly adjusted Husky 340 for sure can cope with those but I thought it would be a perfect reason to stay downstairs which is my kingdom.
I bought lower part of crankcase etc, pretty much whole thing for 20USD and been recently building one chainsaw from two.
Then there is straight gassed MS180 from my friend which just got new powerhead parts from AliExpress. Lwt us see how that one goes.
I do attach a couple of pics of honed Jonsered 535 cyl. Honing oil used was 2stroke gas with like 5% oil in it. High end tools and end results in pics. Thank God there was no Grit spec on that wheel I found. It might have spoiled my day.

Metabo It's 26 years old, so it's time to clean it from sawdust 😉 Makita has a metal gear housing and only one run. The third one in the set is Berner, it looks the best, although they are all 12Volt

Previous owner put a big bore on it
Oddly it wore down the wrist pin
It sounded excactly like rod knock.IMG_20231009_163006.jpg
I'm just getting a new oem piston for the original cylinder
Look how much heavier the big bore is compared to the oem.

And the 064 is back together and a runner! After a little muffler work and some port beveling it was a runner but it wouldn't idle. I pulled the carb apart at the test log, swapped the krispy diaphragm with an extra from my stash and now it runs and tunes like a champ! I'm not sure what the displacement is with a 54mm Cross/MMWS big bore kit, but it did an alright job of pulling the 36" I put on it.

Here’s something I’ve done to a few of my saws. This saw sat high on the clutch side because it’s propped up up its spikes. That kinda accelerates wear on the left front corner of the saw, eroding the metal surrounding the shock mount because it’s left rubbing the ground. Wear also occurs along the length of the engine case on that side as well.
I use the rubber insulation from an Adel clamp wrapped around the handlebar held in position with a small Breeze clamp. With the screw positioned below the saw, it now sits up on three points. The spikes, the tail (of the handle) and the screw of the clamp. The engine is now completely off the ground. IMG_5330.jpegIMG_5331.jpeg

I've been trying to find one of these Alpina pro-41s for 15 year's IMG_20231021_120226.jpg
IMG_20231021_120248.jpg
My mom bought me one in the 1990s
brother lost the carb/intake assembly
Somehow
This one is in very good shape IMG_20231021_120433.jpgIMG_20231021_120448.jpg
This one's in good shape
These are strong little saws with an unusual dual trigger setup
Can be run as a tophandle or rear handle
Lot's of climber's used them locally
Just need carb kits and fuel lines to run.

But i gotta ask, is it Saw Troll approved.

By the way, Is Saw Troll still around? Hopefully so.
I see that we've lost a few folks since when I was last online.

My friend bought this saw as his first saw project to do and got frustrated with it. Husqvarna 435. He said the carb was a pita. Anyways he gave it to me a year ago and I diagnosed it with a bad crank seals. I put it in a box, ordered the seals and it’s been sitting forgotten this whole time. I had no idea the carb really would be that much of a PITA....I feel bad that was his first experience working on a saw. I hope to finish it this evening. I muffler modded it and small ignition timing advance.

I sympathize with your friend , I sent one to Will, who's on here, after trying to get it to run right. At one point I decided that it wasn't worth the effort.
