Acres has it list as 1975. Either way. It appears to be an updated version of the A77 introduced in 1968( same bore, stroke, carb etc). Very cool old saws.

I had already put away a few items, the box contains mosly clutches and drums but some other miscellaneous parts as well.

Guy dropped off this really clean 3700. It needs the normal hoses and carburetor kit.

Someone poured thick oil and turned the connecting rod on the shaft, it works on one piston. I'll ask how much the parts cost tomorrow.

Rebuilt a heavily abused 288

I think it was mike lee that gave me a 288 hyway piston kit
I asked my friend if it ever leaked gas
Always he said
I think the wore out fuel barb and badly leaking decomp valve led to it
Sucking air and frying the piston.
I plugged the decomp
Since it has a Briggs and Stratton pull handle on it
I used a old Briggs lawn mower coil wire
It worked out great

Started on the second pull that's the only good aftermarket 288 carb that has worked for me
This one held tune and was easy to adjust in wood

Parts are cheap, you just need to get as many dimensions as possible to make it fit and wait a month for delivery from China

I don’t believe leaking decomp valves would ever ruin any engine. Lack of fuel from a leaking supply circuit will.

If someone wants to explain to me how a decomp valve can allow any air into a running engine I am all ears.
