Today did some landscaping with help from the truck....

Then some digging to expose the root infiltration into the septic...

You don't want any further pics!!!!
Or the smell...

Bad things can happen inside airplane engines too. Not sure what caused this, my guess is detonation that could have been cause by an overzealous pilot trying to save a few cents a mile by leaning his mixture too lean of peak. Cylinder looked normal. I ran into a snag .By the looks of things on one of those concrete
saws somebody had ham handed the boot clamp and pinched the boot .I could tell right after it came into view because the dang thing is buried under the carb mount thing .I'm not exactly certain how the boot comes out of the holder but suspect it gets stuffed kind of like a Stihl boot . 31 degrees in my garage ,Buna-n doesn't bend so well .
I think I can repair it using o-ring glue .If not I'm only out 12 bucks . The boot part number is 394-131 -210 on both Dolmar and Makita parts lists .Pot lickers get 25 bucks and up for them and I thought Stihl was outrageous .

It's handy the sizes are engraved not stupidly printed on the sockets to wear off.IMG_20201229_112158.jpgthis thing probably has over a 2000 hour's on it lol

Just as I thought .That boot did unfold it just needed heated up to be limber enough to bend .A little short visit near my woodstove chugging away full of pop corn dry white oak did the trick .There's always a different way of skinning the same cat .

I've got I think the same gen set in my shipping box that belongs to my son .I fire it up every so often and have it "Stabiled " so the gas doesn't go funky .I failed to do that on my set which is a 5000 watt and spent some time this fall clearing out fuel lines and the carb . As I fire up the old saws I give them a shot too just in case .
