The last couple decomps I used on machined and ported 088/880 were actually 1128 decomps. I drilled out the hole in the 1128 decomp to 1/16 and then drilled another 1/16 hole 180* from the first one. They worked great.
I drilled two 1/16” holes.
Pulled the elastostart handle outta my hands on the 1st half of the first pull after it closed. So I slapped it on my ported 462, and she still closes by the 2nd rotation on the first pull without it even popping on choke. I’ll try a 3/32 drill bit next

Dolmar ps341 dropped off for a get running and service. Seems in nice shape.

Also had a pos Homelite Timberman dropped off by one of my mom's friends. So far I see it needs a recoil rope.... hope that's it.

Starting to setup my completed repair/waiting parts/needs to be looked at section of the garage.

Went down to mom and dad's like usual for birthday dinner and dessert.

Someone suggested husqvarna decomps to me, because of the bigger port.

Its not just a bigger port, but seems to be a stronger decomp, needing more pressure to close it. The decomps that I drilled from Stihl now have much larger openings ............. they still arent up to the task (just yet)

Covering the heated handle with shrink tubing ........ only took a few hours to get finished. I’d rather protect the wrap than replace it View attachment 267277View attachment 267278View attachment 267279View attachment 267281View attachment 267282

Lookin good.
I'd bet that's a PITA to get it look good and be nice and smooth.
I have a couple of those dewalt knives, they are pretty nice till they get a bit worn on the innerds and the blade tries to pull out.

Kawasaki FH601 head reassembled, reinstalled, and lightly torqued. Tomorrow I'll bring my torque wrench home from work and do the final torque, valve adjustment, assembly and fire her up! Pulled the other valve cover and checked/adjusted the valves. They were pretty loose.

Kawasaki FH601D 19 hp on a Gator. All back together and running. Runs sweet. Tomorrow just need to double check the valve clearances and run her some more to ensure that she is 100% ready to go. Giant shoutout to @Onan18 for his advice on repairing it!!

I've been making a half-fast attempt to clean things up like blowers, weed wackers etc .The latest is a 31 cc Ryobi wacker which is just few cc's larger than most .Funky carb Walbro wt .It's a no brainer ,new carb, fuel lines ,fuel filter and primer for about 3 bucks more than a rebuild kit .Now I need to find a blade head as I despise string heads . The last one of those I had shot down my driveway heading north at about 100 miles per hour when I tapped it for more string .It might have made it all the way to Michigan for all I know .

Did the final checks and test drive on the Gator. Runs excellent and has much more power than before. Guy is coming tomorrow evening to pick up. Glad I was able to get him going for a fraction of what the Deere dealer would have charged him.

BR600 got a valve adjustment. Compression is much improved as the exhaust valve adjustment was too tight. Still dumping fuel into the cylinder. Pressure tested the carb and it failed. Needs a carb. Let the guy know and he'll get back to me.
