361C to real saw conversion. Case half must be swapped out. There is no other way or modify the case half.

For the life of me, I can’t figure out what the hell they were thinking with the “C” model for this fine saw. At least this one has the unlimited coil and closed port jug.

Checked valves, ok
Muffler isn't carboned up
Confirmed faulty coil this morning. Ran same way as last night with stop switch wires disconnected. Good spark at dead idle but as rpm increases spark becomes erratic. Seems like stuck at idle timing or rev limiter portion of module faulty and engaging rev limiter too early. Started on second pull this morning.
No guard on it, machine is used commercially, I know it's not good to run without guard but that's his choice. I did have it running okay last night. I'm 99 percent sure that the coil will solve the issue. Once coil is on I will load test in the yard.

I have replaced a few coils on those 4mixers.
It will idle but not tune on the H. They would only rev to about 6000 before scattering on the tach.
Find another coil,a set of rings and clean the crud out. They will run right with a coil.
Cut a feeler gauge so you can adjust the valves.

4 mix motors never sound right to me even new.

@backhoelover is sending me a coil and the feeler gauges for the valves. Compression is good and the other day the coil was behaving okay and it ran out good.

IMG_20200427_163647.jpg Tried something new today on this old 16" Stihl bar. It was super rusty and missing most of the paint so I sanded it down to bare metal and hit it with 3 coats of this high temp engine enamel. Paint should be good to 550°f and the bar would be toast way before then. I'm curious to see if the hard enamel holds up better than other paints. Only downside is that Chevy engine orange is a little brighter than Stihl orange but if it lasts as long as most painted bars it won't be there for long anyway lol

View attachment 238156 Just for kicks and giggles I painted the other side with this black metalized engine enamel, What's everyone's opinion on the colors? Like the orange or the black? What if I just leave one on each side and see which holds up better?

If you want a spray bomb paint that will really hold up. See if your local napa can mix you their in house single stage urethane. The napa here does the acrylic and it's pretty good. But the urethane is the nuts. Need to use a good respirator not a p95 thing. It's essentially the same paint that would get used in a hvlp gun.
