Husky is pretty protective about it. The tree service I work at has an Arborist Dealership. Supposedly we’re not allowed to have it as we are not a “full service dealer”. None of the technical reps we’ve had seem to mind so far.

The Common Service Tool is relatively inexpensive. $180 ish IIRC. In order to download the software to run it on your computer, you’ll have to be logged in to the dealer website. If you can pull that off you’re good to go. No need to be logged in to run it after that, until there is a software update for the CST.
Logging in to the dealer website I assume isn't easy? The price is reasonable enough but if you can't update/ reset the software it's probably not worth it.

Nothing no on my bench today but I do have a question.

I work for the county with parks and recreation as a crew lead. I recently accepted a job as mechanic. It’s our first full time, this is 100% your job deal. What tools would y’all recommend to work on zero turns, out front mowers;weedeaters and blowers as well as bunker rakes/field rakes and some light tractor, skid steer and excavators?

I have a box picked out as well as a lift, with turf attachment.

Obviously a decent socket and wrench set, hammers, crescents, screwdrivers and channel locks.

Anything I’m overlooking?

Pretty much everything DJ said, various pullers, shop press, parts washer, ultrasonic cleaner, cutting torch, a good welder (if you can get two get a MIG and a stick, if only one get a stick) at least a 60 gallon air compressor (80+ would be better) with some sort of dryer system, several strategically placed hose reels, GOOD LIGHTING (as many LEDs as possible, at least one directly oner your bench) a good bench that is a comfortable work height, a GOOD vise (do not underestimate the importance of a good vise, I broke four China vises in as many years) a good floor jack and jackstands, a GOOD set of T Handle Allens and Torx (HL Supply sells some nice German made ones for a fair price) a 5" or better angle grinder, a good strong PLUG IN 1/2" drill and a set of QUALITY twist drills (Norsemans at Fastenal are great bang for the buck) and a set of left handed bits for drilling out broken fasteners ( don't have to buy super high end on these because of limited use, I bought mine at Northern Tool 15 years ago) a good 1/2" battery impact for the mower work and a 1" pneumatic for the diesel work, and most importantly a QUALITY comfortable pair of safety glasses.

Shop is mostly setup with air and associated tools. Vice, drill press, welder, grinders and drills. Hopefully I won’t need the specialty tools as I’m not comfortable digging that deep into a motor. We will still third party some stuff out, or send to fleet. I’ll basically be a parts replacer/oil changer.

You'll likely be surprised how it develops. One thing leads to another then you're replacing/rebuilding engines and transmissions. None of it's difficult if you have the right tools. A good shop manual some patience and mechanical aptitude goes along ways.

Had the newer Stihl’s out this weekend.

Gotta say, nothing better than MT (when it’s working) and the new AV and overall feel. Pretty nice to know you’re always at optimal tune and can devote all of your attention to the job. After finishing firewood, we dropped 6-7 trees at my buddies house. Saws performs flawlessly.

Think my hybrid would take the 462’s lunch money, but I’m not sure that it’s that important to me. The 462 is just a pleasure to use. It’s wearing a 25” light bar and is balanced and light to swing around for hours.

It’s not a PSP saw anymore, lol. Both took falls after bar pinches.

Buy a dial indicator, magnetic base and some painted lead marking compound. When you figure out what use them on your going to make a lot of money on the side. It's going back on my list of things to do when a shop is up and running, again.

I gave up on using the correct tools and went to feel and site to get it just right. Some of the tools required slow down the process.

You have abandoned your PSP brethren, shameful.
Feels good, right?

Good stuffs
Jawney Slice and Dice was crushing big white oak yesterday with the mild 046 I built him. It's just getting seated up.
HO pump, dual port, 91DL RS full, round.

Good therapy session for you Doc!

What chain were you running?
