I cut a small piece of the heat tape i use under and around the muffler. Clean the bar really well, properly affix it (warm it up a little with a low heat from heat gun and then roll/pressure scrape it with a screwdriver handle) let it cool and run it. Works fine and lasts awhile.

Since your method works, I tried something different to experiment.

Used some Marine-Tex two part quick set epoxy.

Wedged in a thick cardboard to not allow it in the groove.

Filled the Stihl oil hole and also applied some to the bar tensioner hole. It’s cut clean through from factory allowing bar oil to escape on the outer edge.

Let’s see how long that little plug last.

Note: used it on some denser wood today, the t525 did bog down a few times.

T525 + 14” bar.

Going to do that muffler mod tomorrow while it rains all day.

Anyone have tips on modding these little mufflers?

I've thought a little of making a press brake for the log splitter. It works good for straightening bent stuff so bending straight stuff is kind of a natural progression.
You ever seen a pipe bender used for doing custom exhaust systems? They look really similar to a log splitter.
