We're in the midst of an ice storm. It started yesterday morning and isn't supposed to be completely past until tomorrow afternoon. It was supposed to be a big deal, massive power outages and disruption of transit, but it's not nearly as bad as predicted. I was going to fire up the grill today and do a couple of steaks but couldn't get to it without busting my ass.
Glad to hear you guys are warm.

What part of Missouri are you in Steve?

My inlaws are heading to Texas this week. They were originally going to go through Missouri and cut through Oklahoma. Just today my FIL said they'll be heading down there via Memphis and Arkansas because of all the ice you guys are getting.

Ice sucks. I'd sooner deal with 12" of snow before 1/4" if ice

Round steak tonight.

Our freezer is running low. All I've got left is round steaks, round roasts and chuck roasts.
A round steak is what consider welfare steak, but damn this cheap cut is better than any steak I've ever had at a restaurant.

We just wacked our last two cows last week so I've gotta make room in the freezer.
I talked to the butcher shop and they are hanging our cow for 30 days before they start cutting.

This week is going to be a huge purge of the freezer. Next weekend my smokers are coming out and my buddy is taking his smokers over and we'll be smoking a ton of jerky

I'm about 75 miles W of St. Louis. It's above freezing now and the rain is pretty much over. On Fri, Hwy 55 between St. Louis and Memphis, was a mess. NW Arkansas got ice as well.
The bad weather has pretty much moved to the East now and the roads are fine. Tomorrow it's supposed to be in the 50's and into the 60's by Fri. Bad weather shouldn't be a problem.
I hope your Inlaws have a safe trip.

Got 13# of pork belly ( bacon side meat ) yesterday. Going to put them in to cure for a couple weeks before I do a cold smoke on them. I can't wait, been too many years since I have had real bacon!

Any of you guys ever deal with Webber's Customer Service?

I was just told about a floor model Webber was on sale locally for $300. He said it's been there for a few weeks so it could be had for less.

It's a 3 burner with a burner for searing, along with a side burner. I guess it's all stainless except for the hood, that's black. From looking online it's a $900 grill.

The downfall; the front burner knobs are missing and one or two of the mix valves for the burners are broke.

I was told that the Webber Customer Service is very good and I'll probably be able to get the parts from them for free. Does anyone know if there's any truth to thar?

I've had great experiences with Weber's Customer Service for the grills I've owned. Give 'em a ring, they'll probably make right the grill you're looking at as far as the missing/damaged parts.

Since all my fresh link breakfast sausage ran out this morning, I decided to smoke a couple lbs. of fresh ground that I stuffed in the 2 ml. bags. I thawed a bag and put in in to smoker so I would have something for breakfast in the morning. ( Damn this stuff is good! ) Used the Walton's H-110 seasoning on this batch. Got 9 more lbs. to go yet. Ymm Ymm good!

Charlie, glad to see you're getting good use from the smoker.
I need to get busy with mine. My new neighbor and I are going to get some Pork bellies into cure in the next couple of weeks. We're both tired of the store bought crap. I picked up some Pork butts to make into breakfast sausage but haven't found a spice mixture I like. How's the stuff from Waltons?
