@Genius...hey Ross, ain't you got a Traeger? Might be off on that one, I know BenP has one over on Turd Site, but I was thinkin' you had one. Been eyeballing the Traeger Pro 34 pellet smoker pretty hard...as of 2016 they re-designed it with a 'sawhorse' style bottom half as far legs/casters go, a new Advanced Logic temp controller, albeit not a PID controller, but I think PID controllers might be a little overrated. I might pull the trigger on the bronze lid Pro 34 model....kinda soon.
I'm gonna pull the trigger on the Pro 34 pellet smoker and grill. 884 sq inches of pure smoking pleasure with the two racks it's got.No, but funny you mentioned this....
Seeing that Webber was a no-go I've been considering a Traeger. I want to look at them and get my eyes on one to see their actual size.
Seeing I do way more smoking than grilling, one of those could be very handy for winter smokes. Then also for quickly cooking burgers and such. I think I would get more use out of one of those vs a gas grill
I know nothing about these pellet grills. I'd love to know more about them.
Bird is the word today smellers...got four half chickens just cranked up and starting to roll some smoke. Chillin' at a good 225 degs. Mix of apple wood and a little shot of hickory. Sister took the other four half birds, gonna bake them low and slow with a crazy good concoction Hawaiian/Polynesian type dry rub she cones up with. Crazy good bird fellas when done...just make ya wanna backhand somebody if they get too damn close!

Love my Pro Crappie 175 rig...it's a fishing machine. We beat the dog chit outta the Crappie and Bream. It's unreal at times...better have a couple extra coolers in the boat. The two livewells get filled quick.Looking damn good there Jason. That rub looks good on that chicken. Like that Tracker too. Wife used to sell Trackers, and Sea Doos 25 years ago up here at P Bee sports.
Mighty fine lookin yard birdAlrighty fellas...the four half chickens. Decided not to mop them down with sauce. Just let the seasoning and smoke get'em. Pull of the bone action.

Smoke Hollow is working fine...I like the big size of it in case I'm smoking for a crew of folks. Will hold a ton of groceries with the 7 racks.Good gravy that looks good! That smoke hollow working good for you? Nice looking rig.
The last time I was at Costco, I looked at a Traeger. They only had the small one. It looked well built but was pricey for a small grill. I think the 34 series is the way to go. A lot more bang for the buck.I'm gonna pull the trigger on the Pro 34 pellet smoker and grill. 884 sq inches of pure smoking pleasure with the two racks it's got.
I don't really know Steve what the ratio of pellets/temp/time would be as far as usage...I'll definately research it though. The last time I was at Costco, I looked at a Traeger. They look to be ideal for doing a large rib roast. I think the convection fan would be the nuts for roasting large pieces of meat.
My only concern would be keeping enough pellets on hand. Do you have any idea what the consumption rates are for various temps and cook times?
I look forward to hearing your thoughts, after you've had some time with the Traeger.
