I love snapping and canning beans, I just can't pick them anymore. Last summer I pulled the whole plants up and pulled them off sitting on the porch, then snapped them sitting in my chair.

I remember doin that with my nanna wed go to the feilds and pick snap beans zipper peas and black eyed peas and shell them and can and freeze some.i can still picture her sitting in that lazyboy rocker recliner with a big plastic bowl in her lap shelling peas.she passed away last year.she made the beat chicken and dumplins too when i was sick id call and sy nanna can you make your chicken and dumplins she made em from scratch.sorry your post about cannibg and shelling brought back some memories
